A common error is to place rank information in the Title or Terms field. According to the indexed example, please do not place the rank information in this field.

Nearest relative information is usually found on the back of the card. Unless the name in the Remarks area on the front of the card is prefaced with a relative indicator such as son, daughter, sister, etc, or has the same last name as the deceased soldier, this is not the Nearest Relative and should not be included in those fields of the record.

Please expand abbreviations such as St to Saint and Twp to Township.

Since these are Illinois Burial Records, there is no need to list Illinois as the Burial State. Please use this field if another state is indicated on the card.
