Marquis de Lafayette (1757-1834)

The county is named after Revolutionary War hero, the Marquis de Lafayette (1757-1834).[1]

1821--Fayette County was created 15 May 1821 from Creek Indian Lands. 
County seat:  Fayetteville [2]
