Houston, Florida, Pioneer Cemetery

Cemetery records, such as tombstone and sexton’s records, may give birth and death dates, age at death, name of spouse and children, a maiden name or, occasionally, a birthplace. Tombstones may have symbols or insignias indicating military service and social or religious affiliations. It is important to look at surrounding tombstones because family members may also be buried nearby.

  • The Family History Library Catalog lists many published and filmed records of Florida cemeteries. For  a thorough "Place Search", you should search the appropriate counties and towns for cemetery records. Some of the books referenced in the catalog may be available on Google Books, Internet Archive, and in public libraries.

Online Tombstone Transcripts

  • Find A Grave can be searched by the name of a person or family to find where a person is buried. Usually gives birth and death dates often with a picture of the tombstone. May give obituaries, names of family members and links to their information in Find A Grave.
  • BillionGraves can be searched by the name of a person or by cemetery and location. The site provides photos and GPS locations of grave markers.
  • Interment.net, lists cemeteries by county with tombstone transcriptions.
  • D'Addezio, Florida Cemeteries, lists cemeteries by name of cemetery with address.  Many have a link to tombstone or survey trascriptions.
  • I Dream of Genealogy, Florida Cemeteries, lists cemeteries by county with tombstone transcriptions.
