Overview:

Canadian Geographical Names Data Base (CGNDB) helps to find the location of a place in Canada.

Content:

  • Site provides the following searches.
    • Name of a place
      • Query by the name of a city, town, lake or other geographical feature.
    • Coordinates
      • Query by CGNDB Coordinates
    • Unique code
      • Query by CGNDB Unique Identifier
  • The results list shows:
    • Name
    • Province or territory
    • Feature type
    • Location
    • NTS (National Topographic System) map
    • Details
    • Map

Using the site:

1. On the left, under the heading GeoNames Query, click on one of the following:

  • Name
  • Coordinates
  • Unique Code
