HALLIWELL, a township, and an ecclesiastical district with two chapels, in the parish of Deane, union of Bolton, hundred of Salford, S. division of Lancashire, 1 mile northwest of Bolton. The church of St Paul's, was built in 1848. See also Halliwell St Peter.
