History

Parent County

1705--Hyde County was formed as Wickham Precinct of Bath County. The name was changed to Hyde about 1712. County seat: Woodstock (1738- 1791); Bell's Bay (1791-1792); Germantown (1792-1820); Lake Landing (1820-1836); Swan Quarter (1836-present).
