Funeral Homes

History

Rupert Schupfer homesteaded the land where Juliaetta is located in 1878. Schupfer was the town’s first name. In 1882, the first post office was established the first postmaster was Charles Snyder. Grain was raised on the ridges, in the 1890’s a tramway was installed and warehouses built for the grain. Steam engines which carried sled-like cars operated in the area. Between 1890 and the early 1900’s the town grew, adding a lumber yard, two general stores, meat market, sawmill, flour mill, drug store, blacksmith shops, millinery, three hotels, and a week newspaper.
