Capt Thomas McDonough
McDonough County is named for Thomas McDonough whose most notable achievement was when, as commander of American naval forces during the War of 1812, he won the decisiveBattle of Lake Champlain.[1]

Description

The county was named for Thomas Macdonough who defeated a British squadron in the decisive naval Battle of Lake Champlain in the War of 1812. The county seat is Macomb and the county was organized on 1826. The County is located in the West Central area of the state.[3]
