History

Monroe County, Nebraska was formed 26 Jan 1856 from Loup County and non-county area. Then in 24 Sep 1857 the Pawnee Indians ceded most of their land to the U.S. Some of this went to Moroe County. This county on 01 Feb 1860 Monroe lost its territory to Platte_County and the Pawnee Indian Reservation. [1]
