Historical Facts[edit | edit source]

Zebulon Pike

Pike County is named for Zebulon Pike who was an early explorer of the Louisiana purchase and discovered the peak in Colorado which is named for him.

Parent County[edit | edit source]

Description[edit | edit source]

The county was named for Zebulon Pike, leader of the Pike expedition in 1806 to map out the south and west portions of the Louisiana Purchase. The county seat is Pittsfield and the county was organized on 31 January 1821. The County is located in the West Central area of the state.[2]
