History

Parent County

San Patricio was one of the original twenty-three counties of Texas, created on 17 March 1836, organized in 1837, and re-organized in 1847 from an old Mexican Municipality. Many records were destroyed by fires in 1846, 1867 and 1888. County seat: Sinton. Settled in 1830 by colonists under a Mexican colonization contract obtained by James McGloin and John McMullen.
