Purpose of the Society

Founded in 1923, the Seattle Genealogical Society has a rich history of encouraging and supporting quality family history research in the greater Seattle area. Our library, open 30 hours per week with all volunteer labor, contains a wide range of genealogical materials (14,000+ items) focusing on Washington state and the areas from which most of our settlers originated. SGS also offers a wide range of educational opportunites for our members.

The mission of the Seattle Genealogical Society is to provide educational opportunities and to collect and disseminate quality genealogical information for family history researchers in our community.
