  • Ages of bride and groom
  • Occupation
  • Residence at the time of marriage

How to Use the Record

Beginning your search

To begin your search, it would be helpful if you knew the following information:

  • Ancestors name
  • Approximate year of birth
  • Place of birth

Searching the index

Fill in the requested information in the initial search page. This search will return a list of possible matches. Compare the information about the ancestors in the list to what you already know about your ancestors to determine if this is the correct family or person. You may need to compare the information about more than one person to find your ancestor.

Searching the Images

To search the collection you will need to follow this series of links:
⇒Select the "Browse" link in the initial search page
⇒Select the "Digital Folder Number"category which will take you to the images

Look at each image comparing the information with what you already know about your ancestors to determine which one is your ancestor. You may need to compare the information about more than one person to make this determination.

Using the Information

When you have found your ancestor's marriage certificate, you can do the following:

  • Use the ages to calculate the birth year from the time of marriage.
  • Use the residence of the bride or groom to search for birth records to indicate if your ancestor was born at the place of the marriage.

Can't Find the Information?

If you can't find the information that you are looking for, consider the following tip. Search for the place of birth for your ancestor before you search for the marriage. This will give you a clue if your ancestor married in the same town where they were born at.
