The purpose of the Huguenot Society of South Carolina is to preserve the memory of the Huguenots who left France prior to 1787. They have a research library containing over 4,500 books, journals, and files covering the history of French Protestants and on South Carolina history and families. The library is open to non-members for a research fee of $10. It is suggested to contact the library so materials will be available. The society also provides research for a fee. Research Form

The Huguenot Society's publication is Transactions of the Huguenot Society of South Carolina and they began publishing in 1888. For publication information, see South Carolina Periodicals. The Huguenot Society also has a newsletter with some of them available online.
The Jewish Historical Society of South Carolina was founded in 1994 to preserve and record living memores of Jewish life in South Caroilna's small towns.

The South Carolina Genealogical Society's archives are housed in the Old Edgefield District Genealogical Research Library in the Tompkins Memorial Library.

The South Carolina Historical Society has substantial holdings related to genealogy, the Civil War, and local/state/regional history in their private facility. They are a non-profit organization. If you are not a member, visiting their library and using their resources cost $5 a day. The society will perform some research services but it is suggested to hire a professional research for in-depth research.

Membership to the South Carolina State Society National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is open to any woman who is eighteen years of age or over and can prove lineal, blood line descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence. Documentation is required for each statement of birth, marriage, and death.
