Record Description

This collection will include records from 1583 to 1936.

This collection includes civil registration, census, military drafts and other records microfilmed and digitized at municipal archives in the Barcelona Province, Spain. These records are for the cities of Badalona, Bages, Barcelona, El Masnou, Garraf, Igualada, Las Corts, Manresa, San Gervasio, San Martín de Provenzals, Sarriá, Talamanca, Vallvidrera and Vic. The parishes included are each named after the cities, plus the addition of the Villanueva y Geltrú and Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau parishes. This collection is being published as images become available.

These civil registration records usually contain the following information:

  • Name and gender of child
  • Date and place of birth
  • Parents’ names, their residence, town of origin and province
  • Father's occupation
  • Names of paternal grandparents
  • Names of maternal grandparents

These census records usually contain the following information:

  • Names of person in household
  • Gender and age
  • Marital status and relationship to family
  • Literacy
  • Their occupation and origin
  • Length of time living at current residence
  • Street and house number
  • Head of household

These military draft records usually contain the following information:

  • Name of draftees
  • Age of draftees
  • Parents’ names, their residence and origin
  • Physical description of draftee
  • Any health problems
  • Date of registration

How to Use the Record

To search the collection you will need to follow this series of links:
⇒ Select the "Browse" link in the initial search page
⇒ Select the Provincia
⇒ Select the Ciudad o Municipio
⇒ Select the Parroquia
⇒ Select the Tipo de Registro y Años which takes you to the images.

Look at the images one by one comparing the information with what you already know about your ancestors to determine which one is your ancestor. You may need to compare the information about more than one person to make this determination.
