resolved I think the current title of this article may be confusing. It appears looking at the list of parishes that the collection covers that this records from the Diocese of Manchester, the parishes of which are mainly from the historic county of Lancashire, with a few each from Cheshire and Yorkshire. I agree with Angelofnorth who posted about this topic in the thread Indexing project titles for English Diocesan records in the Feedback and Community Support Forums. Collections like this should be named after the diocese and then this article could explain or link to an explanation of the parishes and their historic counties. --Steve 16:34, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

:For a short time this article had a more appropriate name England, Manchester Central Library Church of England Parish Registers (FamilySearch Historical Records). It has now been changed again. I accept that the article clearly states that the majority of parishes included in the collection are from within Lancashire , but my fear is that the name of the collection will lead people to believe that it also contains parishes from Cheshire and Yorkshire. --Steve talk 14:32, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

<br>Thank you for your feedback. Because this is a wiki environment, we rely on contributions and changes made by users in the field. I have forwarded you feedback to the group that makes decisions regarding collection names.

We ordinarily name wiki pages with the same name as the FamilySearch collections they link to. It is generally less confusing for users. However, since boundaries, jurisdictions, and the records themselves have changed over time, some names may not accurately reflect the locality or jurisdiction represented by the records. In addition, some articles have names that differ from the actual collection by design or out of necessity.

The name of this collection has been problematic resulting in the following changes:

:The original name of the collection changed so the name of the article was changed to keep it aligned with the collection name.

:The name of the collection was modified so the name of the article was changed to reflect modified title.

:That article name caused searching problems in the wiki, so it was changed to make it searchable.

:The article name was changed to its current name as a compromise to incorporate feedback from users in the field. Feedback from the name indicated that the name

::England, Manchester Central Library, Church of England Parish Registers (FamilySearch Historical Records)

:was confusing to novice researchers as it did not seem connected to the collection.

I have reversed the blanking of the talk page. Old comments should not be deleted but they can be archived if they are deemed to have served their purpose. --Steve talk 14:12, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

Why is page entitled England, Manchester Central Library (Lancashire, Cheshire, and Yorkshire) Church of England Parish Registers (FamilySearch Historical Records) when there is no such collection named this?  The title should be England, Lancashire, Cheshire, Yorkshire, Parish Registers, 1603-1910 - please refer to: https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/show#uri=http://www.familysearch.org/searchapi/search/collection/1788853
