Omitted civil parishes

Milton next Sittingbourne

The closure for several months of the Canterbury Cathedral Library until Summer 2012 will now slow contributors for the Diocese of Canterbury East Kent Parishes and the number of concerns about the current Family History Library presentation of microfilmed records; the "Known Issues" in the Family Search Records Index presentations have lead the Kent contributors to conclude that the "Parish Records" paragraph is not one which is for contribution in 2012. Contributions will aim at completing parish histories for East Kent and refining content for the Diocese of Rochester parishes. It would assist if FamilySearch could advise what work is being undertaken to improve the Family History Library presentation of microfilm for the county and also the content of

England, Kent, Workhouse Records (FamilySearch Historical Records)

England, Kent, Land Tax Assessments (FamilySearch Historical Records)

England, Kent, Manorial Documents (FamilySearch Historical Records)

England, Kent, Parish Chest (FamilySearch Historical Records)

England, Kent, Parish Registers and Bishop's Transcripts (FamilySearch Historical Records)

England, Kent, Register of Electors (FamilySearch Historical Records)

England, Kent, Quarter Sessions and Court Files (FamilySearch Historical Records)

England, Kent, Wills and Probate (FamilySearch Historical Records)

as the content and coverage of these publications by FamilySearch will influence the extent to which those of us in local archives can contribute links and content in parish pages. We would request that these Historical Records pages include an indication of parishes contained in the collections on the Historical Records pagesto assist in our research and contributions from a local perspective. In the case of England, Sussex, Church of England, Church Records (FamilySearch Historical Records) local contributors were able to contribute every Anglican parish in the Diocese of Chichester when provided with the parishes in that collection; far in excess of the intended publication of future FamilySearch Indexing project.
