Jbparker,

I wish that I knew how to create templates on my own; if so, I would just create my own infobox. I tried here Template:CountyInfoBox, but I just copied a template from Wikipedia requiring a Meta Template. I think an infobox like the one for James City County, adapted to Family History information would be helpful. Thanks! :I took a quick look at your situation. I noticed you mentioned copying Template:CountyInfoBox from Wikipedia, but I did not find that template on Wikipedia. Also, James City County references Template:Infobox U.S. County. Template:Infobox U.S. County does exist on our Wiki, but is empty. So, I am a bit unsure where things are for now. Thomas Lerman 14:59, 21 July 2009 (UTC) P.S. Where have you been testing Template:CountyInfoBox? A quick look seems to tell me that at least part of it works.

::I hope you don't mind me joining in on this conversation about infoboxes. I can see the benefit of using infoboxes in this wiki as long as they are focused on family history research, ie it may note the number of cemeteries and/or churches associated with the place, list alternative names, the jurisdiction/government sub-division.

::I also think that we can and should think abouting linking articles in this wiki to those in Wikipedia. It would be a waste of effort to duplicate the articles found there, but readers of this wiki may find useful/interesting items in the Wikipedia article. I have created the template Wpd for this purpose. --Steve 15:17, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

:::Sorry your page has become the area for discussion. Is there a better place to do it? I think that you are right with the infobox, that it should be focused on family history. Perhaps I am just longing for something other than a giant "Contents" box to greet people on pages. It may be distracting and overwhelming. Anyway, thanks for the help, everyone!
