Sonja has been employed by the Family History Library since May 1985.  She has been a professional Germanic and Slavic researcher since 1982. She received her Accreditation in German research in 1988  and her Swiss accreditation in 2006. She is especially interested in the eastern provinces of the old German empire. Areas of research include Germany, Switzerland, Poland, Austria and The Netherlands. Of special personal interest to her is the region of Silesia where her mother’s family is from and Saxony, where her father’s family is from.
 
  
Sonja was born in Frankfurt/Main, Germany, and immigrated as a child to the United States growing up in Minnesota and California. She enjoys 3 rambuncious grandchildren that visit her daily.

Sylvie Pysnak, AG was born and raised in the Czech Republic. She is currently employed by the Family History Department of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a Slavic Consultant in the International Research Unit at the Family History Library. Sylvie is accredited in Czech research, has a working knowledge of many Eastern European languages and has researched on-site in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland. She has been writing publications and has taught at various conferences since 1998. Sylvie and her husband Bernard live in Bountiful, Utah, and are the parents of four children and have on grandson.
