Moved comment from main article to discussion page

When I read the words, "prepare a family group record" I assumed that the link would go either to an online FGR or to a link where I could print one. I couldn't figure out how the "Adding a Custom Event" article fit into my expectation for an FGR. I now understand why you linked to this article. I still have a problem because a person who is just starting is required to have PAF to understand the instructions. They may also ask, "What is PAF?" There are no instructions about where to find a paper form.
P.S. I haven't used Talk very much either and figured I had to click Edit to respond.
The article is “How to Guess Where to Start” in the third paragraph. I had a link on the end of the sentence “So, the best way to start is to prepare a family group record showing everything you know about the family.” The link went to a wiki article “Adding a Custom Event to a PAF Family Group Record” I’m trying to figure out why you thought it best to revoke that link.
At the same time I trying to figure out how this "Talk" thing is supposed to work. So on or off line doesn't matter to me.

David, I'm not sure which article you're referring to. Are you talking about the announcement about the conference in Southern California? I only remember removing a link in an article where the link didn't go to the place that the text said it would. Please remind me of the article of which you speak. We can take this discussion off-line.

Leaving summary notes for edits
Anne, It is probably good practice to get in the habit of not editing 'Main Page' articles  without leaving an edit message, or marking the edit as minor. It will help reviewers in the future. Thanks The Earl 09:52, 17 March 2008 (MDT)
Main page edits
In the future, I won't add/edit anything on the Main Page - only if I'm given permission to do so before I retire or die, whichever comes first. I can always put an item on a state, province or country page. If it's of a more general item, I'll either forget it or send it to you to add.

England barn raising
I've put the England barn raising on the agenda for tomorrow, since I've noticed some action in getting the pages ready for the task lists, etc., so it might be worth discussing when we'll start, end, and what else may be needed based on experence with the Maryland project.
