Wake Island Genealogy
Wake Island is a coral atoll in the North Pacific Ocean about two thirds of the way from Hawaii to Guam.
Wake is considered a part of the Micronesia island area of the Pacific. It is an unorganized, unincorporated territory of the United States. The Marshall Islands also claim Wake Island.
There was no permanent indigenous settlement on the atoll, although oral traditions suggest it was visited by Marshall Islanders.
