History

Parent County

Young County was organized and created 2 February 1856 from Bosque and Fannin counties. Reorganized in 1874. County seat: Belknap (1856- 1865); Jacksboro (1865-1874); Graham (1874-present). When first organized, Young County extended to the new Mexico border.
